CAMSHAFTS:

For a better performance of your engine and a minor fuel consumption, you MUST replace the old camshaft if one of the following symptoms occurs:

  • Bent camshaft
  • Lack of power
  • Cylinder head change
  • Pollution increase
  • Low engine performance

AJUSA_USA SUPPLIES ONLY NEW CAMSHAFTS AND DOES NOT RECOMMEND THE USE OF REBUILT ONES.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION

The camshaft is the piece that, in four stroke engines, is in charge of controlling the opening and closing of valves and, besides, it is able to directly propel other devices.

ASPECTS WHICH INFLUENCE IN THE PREMATURE FAILURE OF CAMS/LIFTERS

  • Materials and their compatibility.
  • Superficial treatments.
  • Superficial unevenness.
  • Pressure between both surfaces.
  • Shape of the surfaces.
  • Motor oil different to the recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Lubrication method.

CHANGE THE CAMSHAFT WHEN YOU SEE ANY OF THE FOLLOWING SYMPTOMS

  • Scratches or marks of cam or support wear.
  • The camshaft is bent more than 0.05 mm with respect to the ends of the supports.
  • Axial displacement bigger than 0.15 mm.
  • Cylinder head change.
  • Loss of power.
  • Excessive fuel consumption.
  • Catalyst deterioration.
  • Pollution increase.
  • Uneven engine runnig.
  • Low engine perfomance.

When changing the camshaft it is essential to change the lifters.

IMPORTANT: AVOID PROBLEMS

We do not recommend to use rebuilt camshaft due to the following reasons:

  • Decrease of the hardness of the adjusted external layer.
  • Decrease the cam pressure resistance.
  • Failures due to cam perforation.
